In the “Fake News” era, nuance and neutrality are dead. Unfortunately, with digitalization and social media, there is an increase in the widespread news either factual or fake making the authenticity of the content questionable – readers need a better way to find the facts.

You Turn is a legally registered organization that is set up exclusively for the purpose of fact-checking. You can view the registration certificate.

You Turn is committed to fact-check media content in a transparent and unbiased manner. Our goal is to give the audience the truth behind the news circulated in various social media outlets. We do not have any affiliations or favouritism towards any political, religious, or social slant in the news that’s published. We adhere to high Social Standards, Ethics, Virtue, and Quality.

Youturn is a unit of the People Educational Awareness Trust. The Trust is managed by Mr.Kalidasan (Chairman & Managing Trustee), Mr.Rajkumar (Secretary), and Mrs.Kavitha (Treasurer). We currently have a team of 10 members who are not a part of any political parties nor inclined towards any organizations.

It’s the idea of our Founder, Mr. Vignesh to start the organization and he is the advisor of the Organization. The founder has given complete freedom of decision authority to the Editorial team in order to provide unbiased fact-checks. The editorial team is led by Ms. Gowthami Ramasamy who has the exclusive editorial control.

    Founder and Advisor

    Mr. Vignesh is the Founder of You Turn. He has a graduate degree in Computer Science Engineering, currently pursuing a career as a data engineer who has tremendous experience in the field. His passion towards creating awareness to the public about “Fake News” and its widespread impact on society gave birth to You Turn. He founded You Turn in the year of 2017 and his support to You Turn with his ideas to push it more into the people.

    Co-Founder

    Mr. Karthikeyan M, fondly called as Iyan Karthikeyan, co-founded YouTurn and was the Former Editor-in-Chief till October 2023. He had contributed immensely over the years to take YouTurn to the people.

    Ms. Gowthami Ramasamy

    Editor

    Ms. Gowthami Ramasamy is the Editor of YouTurn. She joined the You Turn in April 2018 and has been instrumental in its growth and reach over the years. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. Having volunteered to be part of YouTurn’s Research team, she had risen through the ranks and now heads YouTurn.

    Ms. Krishnaveni

    Sub Editor

    Krishnaveni works as a Sub-Editor at You Turn. She completed her Master’s in History from Madras University. Additionally, she holds Bachelor’s degrees in Electrical Engineering and Tamil Literature. She was a former employee of an IT company, and currently, her role involves verifying the factual accuracy of news on social media to identify and expose fake news.

    Sub-Editor

    Kalaiselvan is a Sub-Editor at YouTurn. He graduated from Manonmaniam Sundaranar University in 2019. He previously worked as a content writer for three years. His role is to research and write fact-check and general articles.

    Hameed is the Graphic Designer and Video Editor of YouTurn. He provides visually compelling design and digital content with his creativity. He has experience and knowledge in various editing and designing softwares which helps him convert concepts into captivating visuals.

    Shiva is a Researcher at YouTurn, he plays a crucial role in ensuring that every piece of content meets the platform's high standards of quality and coherence. With meticulous attention to detail, he meticulously reviews articles, videos, and other media, refining them to perfection before they reach the audience.

Fact-checking Methodology — the verification process follows several key steps:

  1. Claim selection

    We select claims that are viral on social media and that could have a significant negative impact if left unchecked. We also respond to claims submitted by readers via our website, social media, and email.

  2. Research and investigation

    Analysts and editors research the claim by searching for publicly available resources. This includes checking official government databases, think tank studies, and reports from other trustworthy sources.

  3. Source verification

    Fact-checkers trace information back to its original source. This often involves using digital tools such as reverse image searches to identify the origins of images and videos.

  4. Expert consultation

    For sensitive topics, such as misinformation related to health or legal matters, the team consults its network of expert advisors to gain clarity before publishing.

  5. Evaluation and writing

    After gathering evidence, the team evaluates the claim and writes a detailed fact-check article that explains how the claim was debunked. The article includes references to the sources used.

  6. Multimedia communication

    To reach a wider audience on social media, YouTurn creates and publishes summaries of its findings in the form of images and videos.

As an IFCN signatory, YouTurn maintains a transparent correction policy. Readers can report potential errors via a “Report Article” section or by contacting the organization through its various channels.

    The visual/link/information shared is a scam and created to make money in dishonest ways including data theft.

    This indicates that the image shared is old and not recent.

    This indicates that the video shared is old and not recent.

    This indicates that the visual shared is old and not recent.
